The Dusit Thani is an incredible Resort in the Maldives! It is the perfect place to relax at the beach or to go snorkeling to explore the maritime life.
THE LOCATION
The Dusit Thani is located in the Baa Atoll just 20 mins away from the international airport by speedboat.
The Baa Atoll has some incredible maritime life. We’ve never seen such an incredible reef with colorful fishes, turtles and sharks in the Maldives. Only some minutes away from the resort is the famous & preserved Hanifaru Bay located, which attracts scuba divers & snorklers from all around to the world. Whale Sharks & Mantas can be seen in huge groups during May until December in Hanifaru Bay.
THE HOTEL CONCEPT
The Dusit Thani is a real paradise island – it’s quite small but anyway there are many things to do! The hotel group from Thailand is characterized by the amazingly friendly Thai hospitality you will experience during your stay.
Close to nature…
You feel close to nature during your stay. The the hotel is eco friendly and tries to minimize the impact on the environment. For example they don’t do fish feeding like in many other resorts – this helps to keep the natural balance in the reef. This is one of the reasons why we saw so many different kind of fishes. As already mentioned above it has been the best snorkeling experience we had in the Maldives. We spotted countless species of fishes, turtles, rays and nurse sharks – all during one swim along the beach.

The Main Pool
The main pool area with a bar & Sea Side Grill Restaurant is right at the beach. It’s not only a wonderful place to fresh up during a hot day but also perfect to enjoy your evening and an incredible sunset.
DEVARANA SPA
This Spa Area is voted as one of the most luxurious & best Spas in the Maldives and located in the middle of the islands jungle. The treatment rooms are tree houses with view over the palm trees. We had a very relaxing Thai massage in the Devarana Spa!
THE VILLAS
During our stay we got to see different Villa categories:
BEACH VILLA WITH POOL
The Beach Villas with your private pool have been perfect to relax and to enjoy some privacy & rest. You enter your own garden through a gate into your home for the next days.
The interior of the Villa is modern & luxurious but still cozy with a huge bed in the middle of the room from which you can overlook the beach. There is a huge working desk, Nespresso & tea machine, a couch and of course a closet with everything you could need inside.
MY FAVORITE PART OF THE VILLA…
Behind the bed you find a door which leads into my favorite part of the room – the bathroom which is completely outdoors. The toilet, one of the showers, the bath tub and sinks are under a roof in case of rain or strong sunshine. But there is a second outdoor shower which is completely open. It has been the best way to take a shower in the morning right after waking up 🙂
THE PRIVATE VERANDAH
From your bedroom you can step outside to the veranda with a sofa to relax and a table with chairs and of course the huge private pool which is perfect to cool down after a sun bath in your hammock.
Every Beach Villa has access to the ocean which is perfect to go snorkeling.
OCEAN VILLA WITH POOL
The Ocean Villas are located right over the Lagoon at a wooden walkway -which means you are completely surrounded by the amazing blue water.
Entering the Villa I was positively surprised about how bright everything was cause huge windows letting the sunshine in.
After the entry area with a Nespresso & tea machine follows the huge bedroom with a sitting area.
Through a sliding door you enter the modern bathroom with a freestanding bath and ocean view.
But the highlight is definitely the veranda with sun beds, a lounge and the pool over the ocean. Via some steps you can walk right into the water to go for a swim in the warm water of the Indian Ocean.
BREAKFAST & RESTAURANT
The Breakfast has been amazing with a huge buffet in the Market restaurant. For instance they had an Asian corner, a fresh egg station and so many other options like fresh baked pastries, juices and even vodka & champagne to start your day with an extra kick 😀
PRIVATE BEACH BREAKFAST
For our last morning we had a private beach dinner which was right at the ocean and simply the best way to enjoy our last morning to the fullest 🙂
What could be better than enjoying your morning coffee, fresh fruits and pastries right at the ocean..
BENJARONG RESTAURANT
Our favorite spot in the evening has been Benjarong Restaurant with the Sala Bar on top of it. The Bar is amazing to watch the sunset behind the ocean villas while enjoying a fresh cocktail.
After that we went down to the amazing Thai restaurant Benjarong for dinner where you can enjoy some authentic food which literally tastes like in Thailand while sitting directly over the illuminated reef.
RÉSUMÉ
The Dusit Thani has been our favorite combination of a small island with lots of privacy but still many activities to do.
It’s the perfect choice no matter if you’re traveling as a couple, family or group of friends.
